About Me

As a high school teacher in both urban and suburban environments, I have spent every waking moment of the last 20 years, trying to get my students to SEE the power of their own worth and BELIEVE in their ability to make their own dreams become reality- using empathy as their compass.  
Sometimes, that task is easy.
​More often, it takes loyalty, trust, harsh truths and love.  
I believe this is true for all of us.

Kids do not care how smart you are. Neither do audiences.  My degrees and what I scored on the ACT matter ZERO to my students. What DOES matter is how you make people feel. Dressing in crazy costumes during Spirit Week, or as a character from the novel we are reading, tells kids that I value their attention and interest. I know them as people. I know what makes them laugh. I care about incorporating relevance into their real lives.  It's the same in real life.
